Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the FAQ section! As a professional dog trainer, I receive many frequently asked questions from dog owners. Here are some of them. If you don't see your question listed, don't hesitate to contact me personally.

Is my dog too old to be trained?

This would depend on your individual dog and what you are needing help with. Please call me so we can discuss your situation!

Which of your services is right for me?

Most people will require the "Help with Problem Behaviours" as a starting point. If your dog is well behaved except around livestock then you will be wanting the "Livestock Training". If you're not sure which service to go for, feel free to ring or message me and ask!

What is your approach to dog training?

My approach is flexible depending on the situation but I often use play to change the dogs mindset, improve bonds and develop communication. I believe in creating boundaries for dogs. I use a mixture of all styles of training, or, for the geeks- I use all 4 quadrants and more in training!

How long are your sessions for problem behaviours?

They are usually around 2 hours but sometimes they're longer or shorter depending on what needs to be done.

What does a typical dog training session look like?

I like to keep things flexible depending on the situation but typically I will come round to your house, talk to you about your dog and situation and then we go to the practical element of the session where I can see your dogs behaviour and I can give you strategies for your dogs problem. Usually this includes me showing you how I would address the situation.
